Lead Technician, ART

Job Description The Lead Technician is responsible for the coordination of pilot plant experiments supporting specific product lines to ensure timely and accurate execution of the experiments.
The individual will also help to identify and execute the capital and training requirements to ensure technology continuity at the Process Innovation Center (PIC).
This role is essential to scale-up and develop new products and processes, provide step-out productivity through new technology exploration, provide manufacturing support, support product market development, and support capacity expansion and capital projects.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Coordinate resources for pilot plant activities, including planning work schedules, maintaining adequate cross-training, and scheduling equipment Carry out supervisory responsibilities for generally up to 5 direct reports, including performance and development Interact regularly with Process Technology (PT) and R&D leaders to ensure strong linkage of business priorities to pilot plant work Maintain the knowledge base for product line equipment and products; mentor and train other technicians on Grace processes, best practices, complex equipment operation, etc.
Troubleshoot process issues and ensure equipment in product line is properly maintained Assist with PIC capital projects - responsible for all aspects of identifying, planning, execution, installation, and commissioning of new equipment Responsible for knowing a variety of equipment and process operations, manual and auto Lead, demonstrate and ensure a strong process safety culture by participating in process safety and hazard reviews, including SWAs, JSAs, CLS permits, PHAs, MOCs, RCCAs, PSSRs, incident reporting, etc.
Must adhere to the highest safety standards, lead safety initiatives, and have knowledge to conduct root-cause analysis Assist in development of technically oriented materials and documents Complete all applicable training and certification tests, including Critical Life Safety Must work safely with various hazardous chemicals, organics, and air sensitive materials Required to work flexible shifts, rotating shifts, weekends and evenings.
May occasionally be requested to travel for commercial plant trials Required Skills Works autonomously and can establish project timelines, set priorities, and mobilize teams with sound judgement Strong leadership behaviors and people management skills with an ability to energize and build a collaborative and high-performance culture Technical comprehension in basic chemistry and math with the ability to teach others Effective interpersonal skills needed to manage and collaborate with internal and external resources; ability to build credibility with diverse groups, across product line Acts as an influential leader and mentor to other technicians Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong mechanical acumen to diagnose, troubleshoot and execute maintenance activities Basic accounting skills to understand budgets Ability to navigate and utilize complex computer software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and Minitab Required Experience Minimum 5 years of experience with Grace pilot plant scale equipment Preferred Qualifications Associates degree or two years of college with course work in chemistry, engineering and math a plus Prior experience at Grace manufacturing facilities #WRGRACE Grace is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity.
