Technician Specialist

Job Description The Technician Specialist is responsible for safely and efficiently performing pilot plant experiments in support of specific product lines at the Process Innovation Center (PIC).
This role is essential to develop new processes to support capacity expansion and capital projects for the Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) product line.
This position reports to the Lead Technician for ART and will also work closely with the respective PT engineers to ensure effective work plan execution.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Working under the broad guidelines set by the supervisor, is responsible for proper selection, set-up, and adjustment of experimental materials and equipment - operate and maintain all lab/pilot plant equipment in specific product line, recognize deviation from usual equipment operation and make necessary adjustments, input data into computer.
Records results of experiments, organizes data, performs basic advanced computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines Maintain verbal communication with supervisor on a regular basis to communicate work progress, challenges, safety concerns and provide other pertinent feedback.
Occasionally required to communicate with PT/R&D engineers and project leaders.
Input maintenance notifications for safety or process-related repairs or improvements; identify and facilitate required work permits; ensure equipment is ready for maintenance work; verify completed maintenance work.
Active participation in safety programs, along with the ability to maintain a safe and orderly workplace and update safety documentation and procedures as necessary.
Must successfully complete all applicable Operator Training and Certification tests and maintain compliance with corporate and group safety initiatives.
Required to work flexible shifts, rotating shifts, weekends and evenings as justified by the business need.
Must maintain flexibility in scheduling and collaborate with coworkers to foster a safe, engaged, productive environment.
Will occasionally be requested to attend commercial plant trials at locations distant to the home location.
Required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Technical comprehension in basic chemistry and math.
Self-directed and able to work independently and collaboratively according to priorities.
Must maintain a professional and positive attitude with internal and external colleagues.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good mechanical aptitude for equipment set-up and minor maintenance.
Computer skills are essential, including the ability to navigate and utilize complex software.
Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Minitab.
Required Experience High School diploma 5
