Technician Specialist

Job DescriptionThis Technician Specialist is responsible for safely and efficiently performing pilot plant experiments in support of specific product lines at the Process Innovation Center (PIC).
This role is essential to scale-up and develop new products and processes, provide step-out productivity through new technology exploration, provide manufacturing support, support product market development, and support capacity expansion and capital projects.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Working under the broad guidelines set by the supervisor, is responsible for proper selection, set-up, and adjustment of experimental materials and equipment - operate and maintain all lab/pilot plant equipment in specific product line, recognize deviation from usual equipment operation and make necessary adjustments, input data into computerMay perform technical service support or new product development by providing limited manufacturing support during trials or generation of non-standard samples for testingRecord results of experiments, organize data, perform basic computations, prepare reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelinesMaintain verbal communication with supervisor on a regular basis to communicate work progress, challenges, safety concerns and provide other pertinent feedbackInput maintenance notifications for repairs or improvements; identify and facilitate required work permits; ensure equipment is ready for maintenance workResponsible for knowing a variety of equipment and process operations, manual and autoActive participation in safety programs, along with the ability to maintain a safe and orderly workplace.
Participate in process safety and hazard reviews, including SWAs, JSAs, CLS permits, PHAs, MOCs, RCCAs, PSSRs, incident reporting, etc.
Assist in development of technically oriented materials and documentsComplete all applicable training and certification tests, including Critical Life SafetyMust work safely with various hazardous chemicals, organics, and air sensitive materialsComply with all applicable environmental, health, safety, and process safety standards and procedures.
Report hazards, deviations, and incidents in a timely mannerPerform all other duties/assignments and assume other responsibilities, as requiredRequired SkillsSelf-directed and able to work independently and collaboratively according to prioritiesMust maintain a professional and positive attitude with internal and external colleagues with strong communication skillsGood mechanical aptitude for equipment set-up and minor troubleshooting and maintenanceAbility to navigate and utilize complex computer software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and MinitabMust adhere to the highest safety standards and occasionally lead safety initiativesMust regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs, occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs with assistanceRequired ExperienceHigh School diploma5
