General Position
Summary:
This position reports to the VP, Health IT.
The position controls the business and project aspects of applications and modules of JHM software utilized for patient care and for the revenue cycle.
This individual participates in the day-to-day leadership, administration and planning of software enhancements, maintenance, implementation of new modules or products with assistance from IT Managers and IT Leads as well as Project Management staff.
Responsible for ensuring the completion of the project plans and/or the component parts if assigned to a specific area of oversight.
This individual is accountable to ensure that the overall software decision-making process aligns with the governance structure and that teams have enabled escalation of decisions so that they occur timely.
Uses the governance structure to bring team issues forward in order to collaborate with the key stakeholders or leadership team to resolve problems for both clinical or revenue cycle issues.
Ensures timely and effective communications for inter-team tasks and status.
Is an active champion and advocate for the applications managed and represents those applications at many forums.
Conducts weekly team meetings to review resource allocation, enhancement request priorities, tasks and timeline adherence.
Works closely with Business Owners to understand any required changes to the software to meet the needs of patient safety, regulatory compliance or new local, state or federal requirements.
Responsible for risk identification and mitigation strategies related to upgrades and new projects.
Responsible to track key issues, milestones, timelines and testing.
Ensures adherence to change control processes that provide consistency in documentation of changes and the quality of changes that migrate to the production environment.
Acts as a facilitator to bring consensus to different workgroups that need to come together and agree on single workflows or processes.
Although principal oversight is related to the Epic product suite, additional applications may be assigned in order to align service delivery and customer base.
Authority/Decision Making Level:
Reviews and approves project charters and work plans, staffing and resource allocation.
Reviews key decisions regarding the scope of new projects, estimated costs and approves scope changes through the leadership oversight process.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position oversees managers and project leads and/or administrative support that provide direction to team members within applications or to the project management functions and office oversight at large.
Problem Solving:
Advanced problem solving capability required to direct and oversee solutions to complex issues.
Ensures high quality of deliverables as identified through the project plan and in conjunction with project change control, testing and oversight processes:
Activities of one team do not adversely impact activities of another team Changes are combined when appropriate to avoid duplicate effort Thorough testing to minimize problems at the point of introduction to the production environment Quality deliverables are prepared Budget Responsibility:
Maintains responsibility of overall spending as allocated for the specific capital or operating budgets including staffing, consulting and software costs.
Works with the Manager of Capital Budgeting and Accounting or the JHMCIS Finance leadership with any project spending issues that arise.
Ensures that the management team accurately accounts for their time within the time management tool-set which allocates time across the various capital projects and operating budgets.
Information Management:
Responsible for assisting in the coordination of the technical components needed relative to software and hardware and works collaboratively with other divisions of JH IT to ensure that the environment, hardware, integration and devices are operating appropriately and tested for production use.
Working Conditions:
Works in a normal office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust etc.
Work requires attention to detail and requires mental/visual acuity.
Travel is required to JHM entities to attend meetings and conferences related to the individuals' accountability.

As the Epic director responsible for the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and Epic reporting teams, this position is accountable for shaping the data architecture roadmap and implementing technology innovations based on the strategic roadmap.
This position will works under the Senior Director of Health IT, and closely with the Data Analytic team leaders and the Data Trust across JHM to ensure that the reporting and data architecture developed in the enterprise data warehouse meets and improves upon the data infrastructure needed by the Data Analytics teams to support both the clinical and financial needs of the organization at large.
It is important that the role clearly understands the broader business and technology objectives they and the Data Analytic teams are assigned to address.
This role should be forward-thinking about emerging tools, technologies, and business practices.
They should be progressive in learning the application of these tools and practices, keeping an eye towards cloud technologies in order to align the EDW with the rest of the organizational data infrastructure, including the Precision Medicine Analytics Platform.
They will also be responsible for taking predictive models developed by vendors, or by Johns Hopkins in the Precision Medicine Platform and working with clinical and operational leadership to implement and fine tune those models to directly impact day-to-day operations and patient care.
This director has accountability to ensure the integration and clinical integrity of the applications that they oversee as well as achieving cross-application success.
Candidates for this role will have healthcare clinical software implementation and/or support experience in a large health system with preference to an academic environment.
The should be knowledgeable at working in SQL or other relational databases, have demonstrated experience managing large scale Data Warehouses, DataMarts, and/or Data Lake solutions, and experience in understanding and navigating Epic Chronicles.
An Epic certification in at least one application is preferred (Reporting, Cogito, Caboodle) as is previous Epic application experience.
If no Epic certification, expected to achieve one within six months of starting in this role.
