Health Specialist

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing activities for assigned research programs and the management and evaluation of grant applications. Review data and progress reports, and implements corrective actions needed to achieve adequate research progress. Participate in the development of Program Announcements, Requests for Applications, and Requests for Proposals in areas of research. Plan and execute analytic research projects and researches the quality of methodologies and measures pertinent to the assessment and summarization of the health status of Americans. Monitor the status of project applications and awards from peer review through post-award administration and produces documents and responses to requests for information required. Coordinate with investigators, organizations and other government agencies engaged in assigned research activities and related fields and provides assistance to prospective grantees on various grant mechanisms and grant review processes. Identify inadequacies and inconsistencies in data and inform higher-level specialists data issues. Provide technical assistance to lower graded professionals on the use of complex statistical and epidemiologic techniques. Serve as a technical expert with respect to various phases of statistical interpretation relating to topics under consideration. Education Requirement In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, GS-0601, position you must have successfully completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained). Additional Qualification Requirements In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, 0601 at the GS-11 level, you must have:
A. completed 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or, have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field; OR B. at least 1 year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
planning and conducting health-related projects; assisting in the preparation of comprehensive reports of project results; carrying out assigned portions of quality control programs using selected statistical methods for use in quality control analysis; coordinating the compilation and preparation of periodic reports; OR C. a combination of graduate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, 0601, at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
conducting epidemiology-related health research; managing and evaluating grant applications; preparing comprehensive reports of study results; preparing funding plans and evaluating progress reports for funded projects. In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, 0601, at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
planning, coordinating and implementing activities for epidemiology-related research programs; conducting initial scientific and administrative review of program project grant and training grant applications; assisting staff with grant related administrative activities including preparing funding plans and evaluating progress reports for funded projects; carrying out segments of complex studies covering a wide range of health topics. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
