The incumbent serves as Administrative Assistant to the Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer of the Yard.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Acting as timekeeper for the Administrative Staff. Analyzing comments on new or different externally-developed administrative program requirements, identifying impact of same on existing operations; Drafting new or revising existing, clerical and administrative support processes and procedures; Serving as project manager for volume VIII Yard Procedures; Producing and typing materials for command staff including forms, memoranda, correspondence, reports and similar narrative and columnar material, from draft typed materials, disk files, electronic network, and/or handwritten copy; Editing material for grammar, punctuation, spelling and clarity of expression; corrects same, but checks last element with originator if there is any question of a change in meaning; Preparing purchase requisitions for furniture, equipment and supplies. Arranging for meeting space, speaker and support arrangement for large conferences. Providing administrative support to the Communications Manager and Quality Manager. Assisting with tours, color guard participation, exhibits, retirements, changes of commands, bulletins, Yard News Digests, press releases, community requests, media questions, and many other public affairs support necessary. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level. GS-6 level (for the GS-7 level) and GS-7 level (for the GS-8 level) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples would include experience working in a front office meeting and greeting visitors; producing documents from scratch, etc. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
