Supervisory Supply Technician

This position serves as Supply Technician, GS-2005-07 (Medical) for the Supply Chain Management service within the VA Maryland Health Care System. Supervises a team of GS-2005 employees in the distribution area of Logistics. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Major duties and responsibilities for the position include but not limited to:
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Develops and executes staff training. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Hears and resolves complaints from employees, group grievances and serious complaints. Initiates minor disciplinary actions. Identifies and develops training needs of employees. Provides direction of a major program segment with significant resources. Serves as the rating official on evaluations. Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production. Determines whether contractor performed work meets standards of adequacy necessary for authorization of payment. Approves expenses comparable to within-grade increases, overtime, and employee travel. Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services. Ensuring critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled. Performing daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders. Resolving differences between records and physical count of stock. - Distributing items according to established or ad hoc requirements using the generic inventory package (GIP). all other related duties as assigned. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
provide supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; standard supply management procedures to perform work involving inventory and excess material management; knowledge and ability to interpret policies, procedures, manuals, and regulations pertaining to supply/inventory management and federal acquisition systems; knowledge related to stock rotation, hazard alerts and recalls to ensure outdated or otherwise compromised supplies and material are removed from usage area; knowledge and general understanding of terminology and items related to specialty carts to ensure carts are built appropriately; knowledge of the names of the different supply items including the trays and sets, and a general understanding of how items are used in case the user refers to them by another name; knowledge of item descriptions, medical and surgical terminology established work methods, and recognized priorities of the clinical areas served; answer customer questions regarding supplies and materials. Physical Requirements:
The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
