ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an Administrative Specialist , you will:
Plan, coordinate, and manage projects and processes which impact management of the operations of the office. Make sound recommendations to establish and or review administrative procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency. Analyze, develop, adapt, and implement administrative work methods, processes and procedures. Prepare memorandums, summaries, and other documents. Serve as liaison. Ensure services are closely coordinated with headquarters, other offices, divisions, and program operations and are directed to provide maximum support and enhancement of the office's mission. Experience:
For GS-11:
Specialized experience is one year (fifty-two (52) weeks) of experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Interpreting and analyzing office administrative operations and policies and recommending changes to improve effectiveness and consistency of administrative operations; AND - Performing administrative functions such as troubleshooting office support issues, scheduling meetings and conferences and controlling correspondence; AND - Researching and interpreting information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information; AND - Planning and coordinating projects affecting operations OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. For GS-09:
Specialized experience is one year (fifty-two (52) weeks) of experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Interpreting and analyzing office administrative operations and policies; AND - Performing administrative functions such as troubleshooting office support issues, scheduling meetings and conferences and controlling correspondence; AND - Researching and interpreting information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. For GS-07:
Specialized experience is one year (fifty-two (52) weeks) of experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Performing administrative functions such as troubleshooting office support issues, scheduling meetings and conferences and controlling correspondence; AND - Researching and interpreting information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Bachelor's or equivalent undergraduate degree. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only undergraduate level education in excess of the first 120 semester hours (180 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Time-in-Grade:
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment:
Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
