You will be responsible for assisting a journeyman rigger or rigger worker with work that cannot be handled alone and also performs less difficult tasks alone.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable member of the team. Typical duties include:
Using power and hand tools common to the trade. Performing less difficult work related to rigging, such as installing binding on antenna wires, running rigging, carrying chain hoists and falls, hooking on, cutting wire rope and making mechanical splices. Assisting in installing antenna by hoisting antennae and making connections. Assisting in installing:
boat falls by checking the ends; life rails, ladders, steering gears, etc. by making them fast through bolting or shackling; placing lifting gear on loads; repairing CO2 lifeboats by patching, etc.; erecting all types of staging by slinging and manual manipulation. Obtaining tools and supplies and delivering them to the work site. Cleaning work area, tools and machines. Operating a forklift or Krane Kar in picking up and delivering materials to other locations within the Yard. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREENOUT) Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., (includes blueprint reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of materialsNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
