Maryland Department of Health, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Baltimore, MD Main Purpose of Job The Maryland Department of Health, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is currently seeking a Chief Medical Examiner.
The Chief Medical Examiner of the State of Maryland works under the direction of the Post Morten Examiners Commission (PMEC) and is responsible for the investigation of all unattended and unnatural deaths within the State of Maryland.
Established in 1939 as the nation's first statewide medical examiner system the OCME has been NAME accredited for over 30 years.
The OCME is staffed with 91 full time and 110 part-time staff and is housed in a stand-alone 120,000 square foot facility on the University of Maryland's medical campus.
The OCME's forensic pathology team includes the Chief Medical Examiner, two Deputy Chief Medical Examiners, and 18 Assistant Medical Examiners.
The agency has six ACGME accredited fellowship positions.
Also, the OCME has multiple consultants including neuropathology, cardiovascular pathology, radiology, odontology and anthropology, while other specialist services are available through the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins.
The office is well equipped with CT and LODOX, histology lab, and an in-house toxicology laboratory with a turnaround time of fewer than five days.
Primary scene investigations are performed by the investigative team (15) at the OCME and county forensic investigators (110).
The autopsy component of the investigation is supported by 15 autopsy technicians and photographers.
The Chief Medical Examiner is required to perform a vast array of job duties including, but not limited to:
Daily case investigations and evaluations; Determining jurisdictions; Testifying in civil and criminal cases; Explanation of autopsy results and finding to families, physicians and third parties; Providing residency training and teaching to residents in forensic pathology; Providing impartial reviews of requested cases; Preparation of OCME budget; Management of professional staff; Legislative review of bills that impact the function of the OCME; and, Numerous public relations aspects, including maintaining a proper relationship with press and other media.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university (MD), be board certified in anatomic and forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology, as well as possess medical licensure or be eligible for medical licensure in Maryland.
Qualified candidates must also possess senior level management experience in a Medical Examiner's Office or comparable experience in the field of Forensic Pathology.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
