Multimedia Production Coordinator

The Multimedia Specialist works as part of a team comprised to support a Media Lab and MakerSpace dedicated to helping students explore the creative use of emerging media and technology tocommunicate their ideas. The Specialist will assist students with technically challenging personal oracademic projects involving media based communications. They will design and teach workshops,organize special events, and work 1-on-1 to support student needs. In addition, they will work withand supervise a student team to create all promotional and branding materials for events andrepresent the group through social media platforms. As needed, they will research, analyze andmake equipment purchasing recommendations, maintain tools and pioneer new digital art-makingtechnologies through project exploration with students.
The Digital Media Center is part of Student Life/Student Engagement unit, whose programming isfocused on co-curricular activities that provide opportunities for students to build communities andengage meaningfully with staff and peers in a wide variety of ways. The DMC supports studentswith personal, creative, entrepreneurial, academic, and campus engagement projects.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
This position works closely with the Director and another Multimedia Specialists whose jointexpertise cover a wide variety of art, communication, and media disciplines and skills. Assignmentof specific areas of responsibility is based on the totality of disciplines that need to be covered andprior interest and expertise of the current staff.
Design and teach 2-hour evening hands-on workshops to small groups of students using multimediahardware and software.
Plan, organize, and run special events such as guest artist talks, and collaborate with otherdepartments and student groups on activities relating to university signature events.Support student needs with 1-on-1 project consultations
Research and make purchasing recommendations on specialized equipment related to your disciplineexpertise.
Maintain discipline specific equipment, tools and work spaces related to your discipline expertise.
Promote and document DMC programming.
Research and explore new technologies.
Proactively learn new software and stay current with technology trends.
