Assistant Scientist - Study Director of the Global Early Adolescent Study

The Department of Population, Family and Reproductive health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a doctorally trained professional to serve as the study director of the Global Early Adolescent Study (GEAS). The GEAS is currently entering the longitudinal research phase in 10 sites in 9 countries and focuses on issues of gender norms, attitudes and beliefs, and how they are shaped in early adolescence to impact a range of health outcomes across the second decade of life.
Primary tasks of the study director include:
Coordinate the GEAS longitudinal research network including:
Serve as liaison with all collaborating partners
Set up periodic teleconferences among intervention and research partners (separate or together) including scheduling, resolving technical issues, notes and discussion summary and actionable items)
Coordinate periodic meetings of collaborating partners including all logistics, meeting agenda, meeting notes and summary record of the meeting
Develop and maintain an e-newsletter for internal (cross site) communication. Should be done quarterly.
Coordinate the Hopkins Coordinating Center
Coordinate periodic meetings
Establish meeting agenda in collaboration with PI
Monitor task accomplishment
Develop and monitor all within and across site activities to assure that the tasks are accomplished on-time and that there is an identified person charged with accomplishing each
Maintain detailed timeline and work plan
Produce monthly reports of task accomplishment
Develop and implement plan for addressing alterations in work plan
Human Subjects
Have lead responsibility in preparing all Hopkins IRB applications and IRB reports as required
Prepare and follow-up on all unanticipated adverse problems that arise
Work with local partners on their IRB applications to assure that among other things theirs are harmonized with those from Hopkins
Research
Assist with training of data collectors (requires in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the GEAS research methodology understanding of and facility with data analytics used by the GEAS)
Represent the GEAS research to donors, domestic and international audiences
Participate in research activities of the Coordinating Center as time allows
Finances
Serve as primary liaison with partners on all subcontracts
Monitor financial expenditures to assure that the Coordinating Center is within budget and that budgetary issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner
Monitor payments to all subcontractors and resolve issues as they arise
Prepare budgets as needed in conjunction with GEAS finance administrator
Prepare quarterly financial update reports to faculty investigators
Represent the GEAS to donors and at International meetings
Fundraising: seek funding opportunities and prepare grant applications for both GEAS related research and conferences/ meetings that will bring collaborating partners together.
