What You Will Do:
Do you thrive on seeing patients thru the rehabilitative process from admission to discharge? We are seeking dedicated care professionals to join our team as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Spinal Cord Injury/Multi-Trauma Unit.
Our Patient Care Technicians enjoy a 1:6 ratio, 12 hours shifts, and self scheduling.
About our Unit: Our 32 bed Spinal Cord Injury/Multi-Trauma Unit Rehabilitation Program at University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute is especially designed to help individuals with spinal cord injury or dysfunction reach their highest level of independent living.

Clinical Skills Desired:
Infection Control: Standard Precautions, Isolation Precautions
Vital Signs (Temperature, BP, Pulse, Respiration, PO2)
Weight/I&O/Calorie Count
Compression wraps/stockings
Assists/provides for ADL's: feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers
IV catheterization and care
Bladder scan catheterization and scan
EKG
Respiratory Care: Suction, trach care
Oxygen Therapy/O2 Tank Change
Provides orthopaedic/rehab Device Care: Braces (Yale, TCO, Bledsoe, Miami Collar, Splints)
What You Need to Be Successful:
Current CNA/GNA certification status.
Current BLS card required.
High School education or equivalent.
Completion of a recognized certified Nurse Tech (Patient Care Tech) training program is preferred. Appropriate on-the-job training and/or completed competencies (must be validated as meeting the acceptable UMROI Nursing standards by the hiring manager) may substitute for the certificate program.
Previous related patient care experience.
