SAS Developer

We are seeking a SAS Developer with extensive work experience in gathering, analyzing, researching, reviewing and developing requirements and technical documentation for an application to process disability claims. The qualified candidate will also conduct data analysis and develop web service specifications for interface between multiple applications.
Description of Work:
Design, develop, and unit test analysis and reporting requests using SAS.
Create, modify, and update SAS code to incorporate changes in new releases of the product.
Produce ad hoc reports in SAS using .txt files upon request for in-depth analysis.
Extensive use of PROC SQL to create subsets of data for further analysis.
Optimized SAS code to reduce run time and make the process more efficient.
Generate output files in various formats like text, MS Excel.
Participate in code reviews.
Develop SAS code using Macros to run recurring jobs and optimized code.
Troubleshoot process failures and implemented process improvements.
Designed and executed data quality and system tests.
Exercise independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and criteria for obtaining assigned objectives.
Ensure project schedules and performance requirements are met.
Collaborate with the customers subject matter experts, application developers, business analysts, and project management to understand customer and project needs for analysis and reporting.
Provide technical feedback and guidance on data output options, recommend technical changes, and share suggestions for improvements in analysis and reporting to project management.
Investigate and correct system issues within the analysis and reporting functionality and collaborate with other developers to resolve application software issues.
Provide technical support for the quality assurance and deployment of new software releases of the overall system.
Basic
Qualifications:
Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities.
Bachelors degree and 14 years of experience or Masters and 12 years of experience
Minimum 5
years of hands-on experience as a SAS developer in Health IT domain.
Experience with SAS macros for Data cleaning, Data mining and Reporting and to support routing processing.
Experience with extracting data from the database using SAS SQL procedures and create SAS data sets.
Experience with Connectivity to Mainframe SAS and DB2 Databases a plus.
Excellent ability in problem solving, data analysis, complex reports generation.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.
Web Application Server administration and configuration knowledge
General knowledge of project management
Experience using a formal, software development lifecycle methodology
Experience with SSL encryption of mid-tier information
PIV card and Active Directory Authentication
