The Johns Hopkins Hospital- The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 28-bed unit that provides comprehensive medical and surgical intensive care for children from birth to 21 years old.
The PICU is Maryland's only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and state-designated pediatric burn ICU for children up to 15 years of age.
Medical diagnoses include respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multiorgan failure, shock, toxic ingestions, and neonatal and pediatric ECMO.
Surgeries include extensive general, cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, and neurologic procedures.

Responsibilities:
Remote Patient Monitoring:
Monitor patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit through telehealth technology, ensuring continuous surveillance of vital signs, medical devices, and alarms.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct remote patient assessments, evaluate medical conditions, and promptly report changes to the onsite team.
Communication:
Maintain clear and effective communication with the onsite team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, to coordinate care, discuss patient status, and provide updates.
Staff Support:
Provide information and support to the novice PICU Staff, addressing their concerns andDocumentation:
Accurately document patient information, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record system.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to assist in emergencies, such as code blue or rapid response, by guiding onsite staff through necessary interventions.
Education:
Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with pediatric critical care practices and telehealth technologyShifts:
12-hour day/night rotating shift; This position may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 coverage in the Pediatric Tele-ICU.
