Transit Data Analyst

Overview:
Kimley-Horn, one of FORTUNE Magazines 100 Best Companies to Work For, is seeking an ambitious data analyst and transportation enthusiast to support the transit and planning practice areas local to Baltimore and across the firm.
Responsibilities:
Our team is looking for an analyst to support data analysis and evaluation using a variety of data analysis platforms (e.
g.
, advanced Microsoft Excel, VBA, Python, R, Power BI, and Tableau).
The sources of data will vary from project to project, but will include GTFS data, ridership data, socioeconomic data, and data generated by in-house algorithms.
You would be responsible for initial data cleaning, data processing and advanced computing techniques, and final presentation of data in easy-to-understand tables and graphics.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in a relevant program (e.
g.
, planning, engineering, or computer science) Demonstrated interest in transportation, transit, and the use of data in the transportation industry Understanding of transportation policy and the importance of community engagement Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients Passion and drive to achieve goals and create multimodal communities Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat a familiarity with how relational databases function (eg.
Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server) Intermediate data analysis and visualization experience using the following applications:
Flexible coding language (e.
g.
SQL, Python, or R) Advanced applications of Microsoft Excel, including exposure to VBA coding Data visualization platforms (e.
g.
, Power BI or Tableau) Excellent verbal and written communication skills exhibited by experience writing reports and giving presentations to technical and non-technical audiences Use of creativity to recommend solutions to challenging problems Attention to detail and ability to contribute to a positive work environment Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines Preferred
