The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT/MTA) is recruiting for Information Agent.
The Information Agent will communicate with customers via telephone to coordinate travel/route arrangements for individuals traveling on MTA Local and Commuter Bus, Light Rail, MARC Train and Metro system.
The Information Agent will answer inquiries in a professional, timely and accurate manner while using a computer to access, enter and retrieve data simultaneously.
The Information Agent will document complaints, compliments and concerns while consistently demonstrating excellent telephone customer service skills.
The Information Agent will read manual and electronic maps, service schedules, access databases and websites.
The Information Agent will handle multiple incoming contacts and interpret information from multiple resources.
Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced structured professional environment.
May also perform other clerical duties related to the position.
Qualifications Education:
Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalency (GED) certificate.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience working in a call center and/or a customer service telephone position, providing direct customer assistance to the public as a telemarketer, telephone services representative, credit service representative or a similar customer service position that involves simultaneous answering telephones and data entry.
The ideal candidate will have excellent listening, communication, articulate, writing and interpersonal skills.

NOTES:
1.
The Information Agent is an essential personnel position designated by the MTA to be critical in maintaining the operation of the Transit Information Contact Center during significant service emergencies or adverse weather conditions and the employee must report to work as scheduled.
This job requires sitting for long periods of time.

The Contact Center operating hours are 6am-7pm and are subject to change.
Applicants must be able to work various shifts; daytime, evenings, weekends and holiday shifts as determined by the needs of the Transit Information Department.
3.
Applicants will be required to successfully demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities operating a computer, in data entry, writing and customer service skills by passing an examination administered on a computer and interview.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
