Psychiatrist, ACT Brooklyn

OverviewProvides direct psychiatric evaluation, medical assessment and intervention to mentally ill individuals in the community who are experiencing, or at risk of, an acute psychological crisis.
Provides consultation and education to program staff, other agencies and other disciplines, including other services of VNS Health.
Assists in the overall functioning of the Mobile Outreach.
Works under general direction.
ResponsibilitiesoProvides outreach services as part of the Mobile Outreach to mentally ill individuals in the community who are experiencing, or are at risk of, an acute psychosocial crisis and require mental health intervention, including provision of medication, if indicated.
oPerforms psychiatric evaluations of identified patients.
oDevelops and implements short-term service plans for patients, in conjunction with other members of the Mobile Outreach.
oProvides short-term supportive counseling, case management and appropriate referrals for ongoing treatment.
oProvides crisis intervention services to mentally ill individuals, whose circumstances and condition require intervention, including provision of medications, if indicated.
oEncourages resistant clients to accept mental health services through intervention with clients and/or family members and friends concerned with the client's welfare.
oEvaluates patients for psychiatric hospitalization, if necessary.
oEvaluates need for physical evaluations and/or medical services and makes referrals, as indicated.
oConsults with other mental health providers and community agencies, including other components of the Agency, as well as members of the Mobile Crisis Management Service, regarding individual patients.
oConsults and educates community and the Agency regarding issues such as crisis management, communication with emotionally disturbed patients, non-violent intervention with violent patients, etc.
oAssists and collaborates with the Program Coordinator in the overall functioning of the Mobile Outreach.
oParticipates in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences of the Mobile Outreach.
oServes as resource person to the Mobile Outreach and other components of the Agency, when requestedoParticipates with the Mobile Outreach and other appropriate Agency staff in the development and implementation of an in-service training component.
oMaintains patient records in accordance with the Mobile Outreach record-keeping mechanism.
oContributes to the formulation of clerical and administrative policies and procedures, as requested.
oParticipates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
