Job Description:
The Quality Scientist II (Chemistry) is responsible for assisting in the development of experiments or test methods, execution of experiments or test methods, analysis of results and interpretation/reporting of results.
The Quality Scientist II (Chemistry) will perform various routine laboratory tasks and specialized assignment of moderate scope and complexity.
Will present scientific results to others orally and in writing and prepare/submit technical documents for external presentations/publications.
Is responsible for technical support of the manufactured product, process and/or supplier quality, formulation.
Supports products and technology transfers.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
General:
Familiar with standard chemistry concepts, practices & procedures.
Evaluates the chemical properties of various organic, inorganic & biochemical substances in order to investigate their application and/or suitability for use.
Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of all activities related to Testing and Projects.
Responsible for maintaining Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Good Communication skills required.
Works well in a team setting Cost Center Specific:
Performs a variety of assignments within the QC Chemistry lab in support of assigned plant operations to ensure the highest standards are met for products.
This includes testing of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods using a variety of qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques.
Performs general laboratory duties (i.
e.
quality control checks on reagents, lab cleaning, etc.
) as directed by departmental SOPs.
Handles hazardous materials, including chemicals and infectious agents in the proper manner as established by safety and company policy.
Orders and prepares reagents, materials, formulations, laboratory supplies and equipment and maintains sufficient inventories so as to prevent delays in project schedules.
Assists in documentation writing & revising including vendor specifications, raw material specifications, Test methods, final product specifications, SOPs, etc.
as required.
Assists in completing project protocols, change notifications, deviation waivers and Quality Notifications with only moderate supervision.
Supports satellite facilities as well as other internal disciplines with customer requests and complaints.
Performs data entry on material being tested.
Understands and complies with company GMP, ISO and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Identifies problems and looks for ways to solve them (Continuous Improvement) Performs method validation, improvement and development as required.
May assist in departmental functions outside of laboratory bench-work, including qualifying raw materials, vendors, assisting with R&D projects, etc.
Possesses the appropriate interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with all areas both inside and outside the corporation.
Maintains confidentiality of all projects.

Qualifications:
Knowledge / Skills:
Applies a broad range of Science or quality systems principles to moderately complex tasks Capable of readily identifying, analyzing problems and develop/present recommended solutions Have demonstrated analytical skills using databases and statistical software Experienced using standard quantitative and qualitative methods Able to collect, analyze data and presents results to other either orally or in writing Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with large multifunctional teams Experienced in accessing and utilizing Six Sigma and Lean tools Experience in handling biological or chemical samples and knowledge of GLP Education:
BS or BA in related field required with 2 years' experience OR MS with no experience necessary (project management preferred) Recommended Skills Biology Business Process Improvement Communication Confidentiality Data Analysis Data Entry Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
