Job DescriptionGeneral Summary Under general supervision, perform maintenance or construction service/repairs in two or more skill areas, including, plumbing, electrical, electronics, and heating/ventilating/air conditioning (HVAC).
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
May estimate time and material costs of various projects.
Requisitions new supplies and equipment as needed.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.

Specialists perform multiple mechanical, electrical and/or construction duties while specializing in at least two of the following:
Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning.
1.
Performs journey level work in assigned trades.
Analyzes and evaluates equipment, troubleshoots problems and performs repairs on various equipment systems, such as, vacuum, medical gas and control air, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning and controls, electrical distribution and electronics.
2.
Organizes and coordinates the technical maintenance or construction work and installation services rendered by skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers assigned to a multi trade work team.
3.
Prepares estimates of time, labor and materials.
Ensures that assigned projects adhere to time and cost estimates.
Monitors work on site and notifies supervisor of problems, scheduling or deadline issues.
4.
Participates in ordering and maintaining inventory and records on all assigned equipment and vehicles, as needed, in accordance with departmental procedures.
Documents maintenance of all equipment and vehicles.
5.
Prepares requisitions and obtains materials needed to complete assigned projects.
Ensures cost effective use of materials allocated QualificationsEducation and Experience 1.
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
2.
Journeyman's license in one of the following areas:
Electrical, Plumbing, Steamfitter, HVAC or a certification in electronics from an appropriate technical school preferred.
3.
Four years of experience in the primary licensed/certified trade.
Two years valid technical experience in the secondary area of expertise with the ability to perform quality workmanship in accordance with accepted standards.
4.
No experience required if entering Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1.
Highly proficient technical skills in operating shop equipment, hand tools and measuring equipment, such as, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and voltage testers.
Knowledge of pipe fitting, soldering, rigging, drilling, tapping and installation.
2.
Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with management and clinical staff and external vendors.
Effective writing skills are necessary to write deficiency reports on equipment and maintain required documentation.
Ability to read complex technical equipment operation manuals.
