OVERVIEW The candidate will be reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Accounting & Reporting and responsibilities will include but not limited to financial statements consolidation of ASR Group, researching technical accounting matters applicable to ASR Group as needed, financial accounting activities for ASR Group, as well as supporting / participating in ASR group initiatives and projects.
This candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and internal controls, assist with the monthly close and journal entries, account reconciliations, tax reporting, and audit requests.
Candidate will assist in the preparation of management reporting packages, financial and operational analysis, improving operational efficiencies, preparing budgets & forecasts, approving invoices, reviewing brokerage and purchase orders, and utilizing analytical skills to identify and report on variances.
Candidate must be proactive, ambitious, and keen to develop a broad understanding of the business.
OTHER FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Support the month-end accounting close process inclusive of preparing schedules, journal entries, and reconciling GL accounts Develop understanding and support the various accounting processes including but not limited to accruals, prepaids, SG&A actual vs budget fluctuation analysis, intercompany sales process, inter-member billing / reconciliations, reserves for customer deductions, daily delivery reports, Sales & Volume reporting, brokerage activity / reconciliation, and Fairtrade accounting / reporting Assist with managing the IT accounting business processes including the IT operating budget process, IT budget vs Actual variance analysis, and reviewing IT shared cost allocations Assist with the preparation of the monthly global consolidation package for ASR Group as well as the annual global consolidated financial statements for external reporting Perform research in the US GAAP accounting literature on the appropriate accounting treatment of various technical accounting issues and draft documents to support accounting conclusions Identify and resolve accounting issues as well as improve accounting processes by collaborating with various internal stakeholders including Billing, Credit, Sales Analytics, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Payroll, IT and Corporate Accounting teams across various regions Assist with financial audits, tax requests, and annual budget tasks Assist with special projects related to financial systems, integrations, automation of processes, and accounting standards implementation Administration of the Blackline balance sheet reconciliation tool to support the needs of ASR and develop further enhancements to the tool EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 1-3 years of Accounting Experience - Public Accounting experience in Audit required (Big 4 a plus).
Years of experience may include private sector Manufacturing industry experience, a plus CPA Certification, a plus ERP experience, SAP preferred ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES) Strong GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) capabilities and experience Advanced Excel and Power Point skills along with other Microsoft Applications Capable of reviewing financial statements and preparing detail reports for month end reporting package Capable of reconciling general ledger accounts such as bank accounts, intercompany, and other ledger accounts Strong communication and collaboration skills to develop strong relationships and interact with all departments within the organization Good written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively interact with co-workers and managers Strong analytical, logic and problem-solving skills with ability to use sound judgement Self-starter who can work with minimal direction and takes ownership of their tasks Team player with strong interpersonal skills who can work closely with others to accomplish departmental goals and meet deadlines Highly organized, detail oriented with ability to multitask and prioritize activities LOCATION OF ROLE Baltimore, MD Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
