This is a full time, non-exempt position with a 4-day work week! Position Summary The Production Manager position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing environment.
This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Leads and manages machine operators and assembly technicians.
Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Ensures operators follow specified processes, complete designated work assignments, and meet quality targets.
Reviews and monitors production schedules and ensures production personnel are working on the right things.
Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met (supply chain, logistics, engineering, tooling, maintenance, quality, human resources, etc.
).
Establishes or adjusts work priorities to meet production schedules.
Directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in part manufacturing.
Monitors the performance of employees and provides feedback in the moment daily.
Guides employees in productive recordkeeping of scrap, traceability, downtime, rejects, and required control plan checks.
Ensures proper handling of non-conforming material.
Assists with troubleshooting production problems.
Ideally can and will anticipate potential problem situations before they occur and prevent them.
Coordinates smooth production startups and shutdowns.
Coaches and provides consistent application of employee relation policies.
Trains production personnel to perform work assignments safely and efficiently.
Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and that they are following safety policies and procedures.
Ensures that good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.
Job Requirements Leadership skills to effectively direct employees.
Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of employees.
Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
Must be available to work 40 hours per week, with a proven excellent attendance record.
Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent.
4
years as a production supervisor or production lead in a manufacturing facility.
Experience with ERP/MRP data entry systems.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to use standard office equipment (computer, copy machine, etc.
).
Ability to use manual machinery.
