We are looking for a seasoned Principal DBA / Database Engineer to oversee all aspects of Database lifecycle management.

Summary:
The Principal DBA or Principal Database Engineer will oversee the management Databases used in CloudCheckr.
This role will report directly to the Vice President of Operations on the organization's Operations team composed of DevOps, SecOps, and IT.
Technical Requirements Experience with AWS RDS, complex Microsoft SQL Server administration and management is required.
An advanced level of understanding of SQL Server implementations, maintenance, performance tuning, and optimization.
Experience with RedShift is a plus.
Expert understanding of the Stored Procedures, T-SQL language, SQL Server backup/restore concepts and its implementations, performance tuning and optimization, index design, and management, SQL Server security concepts and implementations, filegroups and data file layouts, concurrency, locking concepts, SQL Server installations and configurations, Windows/SQL clustering and Availability Groups, high availability, disaster recovery, transactional replication concepts and implementations (clustering, mirroring, replication, log shipping, availability groups).
Expert with SQL Server tools, including SSMS, Profiler, Tuning advisor, Query Store, Configuration Manager, Execution Plans, Expert skills in using tools, system tables, stored procedures, and dynamic management views.
Expert in troubleshooting Windows clustering as well as transactional replication, mirroring, replication, log shipping, availability groups.
The ability to use the SQL command line and DAC.
Working knowledge of Git and Bitbucket.
Use of built-in and 3rd party monitoring tools (New Relic, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer).
We use New Relic.
Advanced understanding of wait statistics, execution plans and performance tuning concepts, table partitioning, Windows system administration.

Create, communicate, and implement solutions to address integration, technical, service, or process issues across multiple environments.
Provide significant influence in designing processes and procedures.

Demonstrate advanced ability to successfully develop, plan, implement and test systems.
Accurately logs and tracks all problems or work utilizing existing problem management or project management tools.

About the Role:
Act as the lead on mid to large size projects that involve primarily DataBases and potentially Data Warehouses or Data Lakes.
Directly interact with the technical architects and drive database infrastructure solutions.
Long-term planning for scalability of the database infrastructure.
Be responsible for analyzing business requirements; determining appropriate technical approaches and developing specifications for implementation.
Design, develop, and perform complex software installations and configuration changes for primarily DataBases and potentially Data Warehouses or Data Lakes.
Establish and enforce all database standards.
Analyze all informational requirements of new or production systems and develop database specifications.
Establish and enforce controls to ensure database integrity.
Expected to lead technical design activities, produce sizing estimates, consult on testing plans, and participate in all related software build and deployment activities.
Assist peers and other database administrators with complex operational maintenance activities.
Work closely with the Operations staff to diagnose and resolve escalated technical issues with production systems.
Define strategies for backups, migration of database changes, and longer-term system growth.
Lead performance analysis and tuning of the databases and applications.
Develop health checks/monitors for monitoring systems.
Maintain and improve the build, management, and deployment framework and participate in the design and documentation of this environment.
Interface with application owners and developers to resolve advanced technical issues.
Participates in the incident and event escalation process, including problem management.
Participate in root cause analysis by gathering and reviewing pertinent logs and collaborating with peers and management.
Utilizes monitoring and troubleshooting tools to restore service.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience to include in-depth experience in Database Administration and/or Database Engineering.
AWS RDS and Microsoft SQL Server experience is required.
Proven track record of building and leading successful Database team.

This role could be eligible for comprehensive benefits including:
