Grant Accountant

A Baltimore College is in need of a Grant Accountant for their accounting department.
This position is Temp-To-Perm.
Schedule is Mon-Friday 8am-5pm.
Salary is based on experience.
The role is as follows:
Reporting to the grants Manager, the Grant Accountant is responsible for establishing an effective contract and grant management system to monitor compliance with fiscal and reporting requirements as established by Federal and State law, agency regulations, donor and sponsors, policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles for all sponsored projects and grants awarded.
The Grant Accountant performs grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes and associated communications with customers, reconciliations, and re-budgeting; performs grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts Administration and sponsors including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations, zeroing out budgets, and final reporting; reviews general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and complete journal entries.

Performs grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts Administration and sponsors including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations, zeroing out budgets, and final reporting;.
Reviews general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and complete journal entries;.
Monitor sponsored project activity throughout project lifecycle ensuring compliance with College and sponsor policies (cost overruns, cost sharing, unallowable expenses, etc.
), and perform complex and detailed reconciliations with minimal supervision;.
Prepare journal transactions, balances accounts, reconciles errors, and take corrective action;.
Prepare financial data for quarterly reports and budgets;.
Develop expertise in assigned grant(s) and/or contract(s), including knowledge of key sponsors, College policies and industry regulations.

Coordinate close-out projects, as assigned;.
Interpret complex College and government policies (OMB Circulars A-21, A-110 and A-133, Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Requirements, various sponsor guidelines, etc.
) for academic department personnel;.
Serve as liaison between various College sponsors (government and non-government) and divisional personnel.

Preparation of various reports and schedules, review, analysis and maintenance of college funds, accounts, and financial reports;.
Compiles and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions;.
Assist with maintaining various financial databases;.
Perform compliance research and monitor legislation and regulatory restrictions on College grant funding;.
Set up annual budgets and new cost centers for all projects and prepare journal entries for posting to general ledger;.
Assists with time and effort reporting system, ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations;.
Maintains regular communications with department;.
Communicates with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering;.
Assist with training sessions, as assigned, for departmental staff and new PCA managers on the overall post award process as well as relevant key issues/trends in grant administration; Other related duties as assigned.
