Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing Team Leads and associates in one or more departments and ensures that production demands are consistently met. This position is responsible for a broad range of duties including, but not limited to:
safety initiatives, departmental development, and continuous improvement efforts in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization. The role will promote a collaborative environment to ensure effective communication and interaction across departments to achieve business results.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees Team Leads and associates to ensure daily production demands are consistently met and removes capacity constraints throughout the production process.
  • Primary focus:
  • Developing and implementing a Safety First Culture.
  • Meeting customer product demands through producing error free quality products in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Streamlining the production process minimizing touch points and maximizing automation where possible.
  • Manages employee performance to establish expectations, monitor, and measure contributions and provide employee feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.
  • Performs work that is compliant with cGMP, ISO, QMS, OSHA and other pertinent regulations and directives.
  • Maintains quality standards by ensuring that all team members follow all work instructions for each product build.
  • Ensures all associates are effectively trained following Safety and AWAIR guidelines.
  • Participates or leads the creation or improvement of safety standards as a core value of the business.
  • Participates or leads accident/near miss investigations in the production area defining the root cause and establishing corrective/ preventive action plans including implementation.
  • Provides manufacturing information to the Director of Operations by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in Handbook and follow guidelines regarding safety as outline in the AWAIR, and other safety procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-year business or technical degree required, BA/BS degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Word and Excel, familiarity with SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP and ISO guidelines.
  • Understanding and implement 6S and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
  • Ability to generate and adhere to production schedules.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the time frame specified by the Manager.
  • Must be driven to maintain and improve upon quality and production standards.
  • Possess an awareness and understanding of performance against budget.
  • Customer focus and awareness of customer needs.
  • Must maintain a Hands-on style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy.

  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, with final authority for approving pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.
  • Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican s brand and reputation.
  • Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
  • The position may require some travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to execute production and warehouse activities (i.e. stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, etc.). Ability to lift and or move up to 50 pounds, as well as stand for extended periods of time.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
