Summary:
The Education Manager will work with a team to create andsustain innovative educational programs, activities, and experiences fordiverse Zoo audiences in accordance with the mission of The Maryland Zoo inBaltimore.
Essential Functions:
Primary Function:
? Create and sustain innovative andengaging mission-based education opportunities for diverse audiences ? Responsible for ensuring thateducation programs are administered professionally and cohesively; ? Work collaboratively with businesspartners to schedule and price education department programming, submit requests to market offerings, managezoo resources including personnel, and seek feedback to evaluate programsuccess; ? Train, develop, and superviseeducation department staff, as assigned.
Proactively provide coaching and counseling, as needed; ? Participate in the development ofproposals to obtain funding from grants and sponsorships, create educationaldeliverables, adhere to program budgets, and provide detailed and data drivenreports on program delivery; ? Support other Zoo departments withcreation and delivery of education content for Zoo events and other activities; ? Maintain animal handling skills, andwork collaboratively with the Animal Department to ensure adherence to andenforcement of all relevant Animal Handling Guidelines; ? Train and mentor Zoo staff andvolunteers on interpretive techniques and presentation skills; ? Responsible for daily management, deployment, and oversightof non-exempt staff, volunteers and interns, as assigned; ? Perform a leadership role in theZoo's conservation, sustainability, and research initiatives; ? Maintain competence in the use ofevolving presentation technology such as cameras, microphones, webinarplatforms, and tablets; ? Ensure working order of equipmentand maintain supplies to meet operational objectives; ? Review and understand and/ordevelop, implement and follow appropriate policies and procedures as defined bythe Zoo, AZA, and other relevant regulating organizations; ? Deliver extraordinary customerservice to all Zoo guests and internal customers; ? Support events for other Zoodepartments, as needed; ? Perform other duties as assigned;and, ? Adhere to all policies andprocedures of the Zoo.
Communication (Internal and External):
Assist with writing and designing educational and marketing materials, both print and electronic; Represent the Zoo's interests at conferences and workshops as required; Develop partnerships and on-going communications with community-based organizations' representatives; Participate in continuing education opportunities to improve upon content knowledge and teaching/presentation skills; and, Present educational programs using Animal Ambassadors, games and activities, bio-facts, and artifacts in a variety of off-site settings Management of Resources (financial, human resources,facilities):
Manage resources effectively to reach the largest audience possible with quality programs; and, Coordinate activities of volunteers and interns including training and evaluation that support education programs.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Education:
? Bachelor's degree in Education,Biology or related discipline required.
? Master's degree in Education,Biology or related discipline preferred.
Experience/Training:
? Minimum two years' experience in asupervisory or management position strongly preferred; ? Teaching in an informal settingand/or public speaking experience required; ? Curriculum development in aninformal setting; ? Valid driver's license; ? Animal handling experiencepreferred, but training will be provided; and, ? Proven ability to maintainpartnerships with community organizations.

Equipment:
? Must be able to operate a variety ofmachines and equipment including computer, telephone, radio, vehicles, handtools, gardening/carpentry tools and machinery, computer, etc.
Working Conditions:
? Must be able to exert up to 35pounds of force to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects; ? Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs.
occasionally; ? Daily contact with plants andanimals including being subject to bites, stings and scrapes; ? Ability to interact and be aroundanimals and enforce safety procedures; ? Ability to travel (car-van-golfcart) as needed; ? Must be able to stand and remainactive for extended periods of time; ? Must be able to walk large areas ofthe Zoo as needed; ? Must be able to work in outdoorenvironments, during all seasons and weather conditions, includingheat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions; and, ? Ability to work a flexible scheduleto include weekends, holidays, and special events.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
