Summary:
The role of the Technical Manager is to support plant production processes in electrical and plcs areas to maintain operations and improve safety, quality, and cost of a multi-industry facility (Mill/Packing/Board/JT/Durock/General Plant).
The Technical Manager will also lead the plant capital, non-routine maintenance, and infrastructure projects.
The Technical Manager is responsible for environmental monitoring and reporting of permits and construction.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND
Responsibilities:
o Responsible for the development and implementation of all infrastructure, non-routine maintenance and capital improvement projects and plans for the Plant.
Responsible for the safety, quality and cost goal achievement of the department.
Seeks input from other departments and corporate initiatives.
o Support the development of project scopes, estimates, approval documentation, arrangements, installation strategies, commissioning, and start-up of assigned projects.
o Ensures that oversight is maintained in environmental compliance.
Responsible for organization and maintenance of regulatory documents along with appropriate project and system documentation.
Works closely with FM Global to reduce liability and ensure the continuous operation of the facility.
o Responsible for the selection, training, and development of competent Technical personnel.
Departmental composition includes, 1 Electrical Foreman, 1 Supervisor, 3 Hourly PLC Technicians, 5 electricians, 4 project engineers and an environmental coordinator.
o Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills within a diverse workforce environment.
Motivator with a high level of organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks o Must have demonstrated abilities to operate within a planned budget and manage cost within established goals.
o Ability to provide critical feedback and utilize coaching as a proactive means of creating change in others.
o Knowledgeable with safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety, quality (workmanship/attention to detail) and housekeeping.
o The Technical Manager is the LOTO Model Program administrator for the Plant o Executes projects and trials while providing analysis of project status and costs.
In addition, be able to initiate effective recommendations for corrective actions and next steps as appropriate.
o Use market and industry knowledge to understand the needs of our customers and help solve their pain points.
o Prepare training materials and conduct training as needed.
Mentor less experienced process technicians, engineers or production personnel as opportunities arise.

Qualifications:
Education and
Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred) with prior experience as a department manager.
Required Skills:
o Working electrical knowledge (motors, mccs, breaker panels, wiring, high voltage, lighting, etc.
) o Working knowledge of PLC (Wonderware, Allen Bradley, lateral logic, ignition) o Multi-project management skills o Strong written & verbal communication skills.
o Strong interpersonal skills.
o Strong organizational & project planning skills.
o Systematic analytical and decision-making skills.
o Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, specifications, and prints.
o Utilize industry standardized troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Requirements:
o Oral presentation skills.
o Scope development.
o Understanding of 5S.
o Understanding and application of Lean ManufacturingRate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
