Last year, the Esperanza Center Client Services staff at the information desk on the first floor welcomed and assisted 2,209 people. At the Health Services Clinic, people who are uninsured or uninsurable are compassionately cared for at the walk-in clinic four days a week, or they can make an appointment to see a doctor, dentist, or specialist.

The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing quality health care services to the clients at the Esperanza Center. The ideal candidate's responsibilities will include the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients of all ages with acute and chronic illness, ordering of laboratory and other diagnostic tests, patient referrals and the prescription of medication. It is preferred that the candidate be bilingual in English and Spanish. Full-time is preferred, but part-time candidates will also be considered, especially if bilingual.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with medical and other program staff and participate in preventative health programs to facilitate the optimal health of clients. o Collaborates on the development and management of clinical policy and procedure manuals.
Consults and collaborates with the Health Services Manager, Program Director, Medical Director, and all staff and clinic volunteers of the Esperanza Center.
Participates in organizing and directing grant-funded preventive health programs to facilitate optimal health, disease detection, prevention, and management of common illnesses as necessary
Assist the Health Services Manager in completing grant reports with data, stories and outcomes
Maintain clinical records on all patients and collaborate with Esperanza Health Manager in the development of Clinical Manuals Policies and Procedures, standards of care and quality assurance as needed in the transition to a Volunteer in Medicine Clinic.
Serves as a member of Quality Assurance, credential and Peer Review Committees as needed and appropriate.
Communicate and interact professionally with culturally-diverse population and with medical and non-medical staff and volunteers
Must remain flexible to the needs of clients, staff and volunteers
Daytime schedule, but flexibility for occasional evening and Saturday clinics.



Skills and Specifications

Masters Degree in Nursing and a Certificate as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with a current active unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse and FNP in the state of Maryland.
Required experience of 2-5 years as a FNP with relevant clinical experience within the past 2 years sufficient to demonstrate current clinical competency for the setting of a family practitioner.
Family Nurse Practitioner experience preferred but not required.
Current adult and pediatric CPR Health Care Provider required.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
Must complete full credential to include: DEA, CDS, NPI and license verification.
The position requires the ability to travel to other locations for meetings and other agency business traveling on agency business, a valid drivers license, with no more than 3 points is required.
Must be physically capable of moving throughout the medical suite and lifting medical equipment as needed. Must be able to see and hear and be able to physically examine patients.
Ability to communicate medical information effectively in English and Spanish required.
Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions; listen attentively; communicate well both in oral and written form in both English and Spanish (bilingual)
Ability to use initiative and good judgment in performance of duties, both medically and administratively
Assist and support other medical providers when needed.
Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Outlook, Excel and ability to learn data management software

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
