Description/Job Summary
The main purpose of this position is to deliver on the core values of the refinery by ensuring employee safety and plant sanitation are properly maintained. This is accomplished by leading a team of employees in sanitation and dust mitigation. Proactive cooperation with other groups on site to ensure that their area and people are fully aligned with the sanitation, dust and fire procedures is critical to the success of the role and the refinery.
Responsibilities/Duties
_ Sanitation_
Develops and implements short-term and mid-term business plans for department, and assists in the development of the strategic plan for the plant.
Plans, manages and directs plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production. Ensures compliance with all standard operating procedures.
Manage a work force to ensure that sanitation of the refinery is maintained in accordance with Company, Plant and government regulations.
Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth. Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems. Ensures all associates have the resources and capabilities to effectively accomplish their responsibilities.
Monitors rodent and insect control program, including periodically checking weekly rodent reports and traps.
Participates in regular meetings with plant management to discuss sanitation improvements. Facilitates problem resolution related to sanitation and quality issues.
Develops, maintains and reports required operational information to management.
Ensures that all GMP and Safety standards are in compliance.
Participates in weekly GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies. Follows up on work orders, with the appropriate Associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.
Keeps abreast of latest systems and sanitation practices.
Ensure safe work practices are utilized
Maintain inventory and order replacement detergents and sanitizing chemicals
Activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management.
_ Fire Marshall_
This position is responsible for planning and reviewing construction inspections, fire and life safety maintenance.
Supervises employees in the maintenance of the fire system and provide support to the emergency response system.
Manages the Hot Work Permitting process
Manages corporate risk management assessments
Develops capital projects for Fire system
_ Dust Mitigation_
Manages maintenance of dust mitigation equipment
Manages Dust Mitigation crew
Ensures plant dust levels are at an acceptable level
Required Skills

o Knowledge of hazards associated with laboratory occupancies, hazardous materials and ability to apply related codes.
o Knowledge of building construction and design principles and fire protection systems associated with these.
o Proficient in MS Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Project and Power Point. SAP knowledge a plus
o Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methods: lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
o Previous experience and understanding of HACCP Plan development and SQF Certification Standards.
o Working knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and HACCP.
o Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
o Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
o Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Required Experience

o 2-6
years managing and enforcing safety and sanitation regulations in Food Manufacturing
o Experience with fire, building, and life safety codes and regulations along with Joint Commission requirements.
o Experience identifying fire and safety hazards as well as potential fire fighting problems.
o Previous Sanitation Management experience, including development of Master Cleaning Schedules and Hazard Analysis
Required Education
High school diploma or GED

Details
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
