POSITION SUMMARY
The Addiction Counselor is a participant of a collaborative Behavioral Health TEAM. Their primary function is to provide medication-assisted treatment and therapeutic substance abuse clinical treatment services to adults in an outpatient substance abuse treatment program accredited by the Joint Commission and certified by the State of Maryland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration. The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of individualized treatment plans utilizing knowledge of substance use disorders to ensure that treatment services rendered meets the unique physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Substance use screening, assessment, recovery education and case management, psychosocial referral, discharge planning and follow up are core components of service.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired by completion of a Bachelor or Masters
level degree in psychology, or related behavioral health fields from an accredited college or university.
2. Must have at a minimum two years of work experience providing substance use disorder clinical services.
3. Required to be certified by the State of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists at the CSC-
AD, CAC-AD, LGSW or higher level of licensure/Certification.
4. Knowledgeable & competent with data reporting procedures for the State of Maryland Automated Record
Tracking, (SMART), administration of the Treatment Assignment Protocol (TAP) Assessment and/or the
Addiction Severity Index (ASI), the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria, (ASAM
PPC-2R), and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fifth edition, (DSM-5).
5. Work requires ability to operate a computer and software applications such as Windows, Excel, etc.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
