DESCRIPTION
Work under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager. Responsible for planning and purchasing machinery parts for complex machine equipment, parts sales, and service. Work closely with Production Control, Engineering, Accounting, and Quality departments.
Directs supplier relationships (internal and external) to provide appropriate product support.
Drives assigned suppliers to achieve appropriate cost, quality and delivery performance levels.
Coordinates and acts as liaison with other stakeholders in securing supplier capabilities and capacity to support new product development and current production requirements.
Coordinates communications between Engineering, the supply base and operations where appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Five to seven years of experience in an industrial materials or purchasing department or four years related experience in the machine manufacturing industry.
Four year college degree in business, industrial distribution or engineering.
Minimum of three years of experience with an ERP-type inventory / purchasing system.
Strong technical background, including ability to read blueprints.
Expert working knowledge of inventory planning, concepts and techniques. Capable of leading cross functional teams to manage forecasts and inventory reviews.
Experience in reviewing business plans and proactively adjusting inventory plans and delivery schedules to deliver materials on time.
Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management, both within and outside the company.
Experience in influencing designs and processes to maximize cost efficiencies.
Experience in identifying new suppliers and new technology as appropriate to support product plans and current production.
Superior working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
Capable of leading functional initiative projects.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Strong skills in the use of Word, Excel or similar
computer
applications in a Windows environmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
